Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked the concerned officials to expedite the digital crop survey which was undertaken on the directions by the Union government in August, this year. So far, the survey has been completed in 45 districts.
A press statement issued by the state government on October 9 mentioned that 99 per cent of the survey has been completed in 10 districts.
“The Chief Minister has expressed his dissatisfaction over the sluggish progress of the survey in some of the districts and has given strict directions to the District Magistrates to complete the survey expeditiously,” the statement mentioned.
By using mobile applications, employees of other departments, including Agriculture, are preparing records of crops grown in the state. The data obtained through this survey will help farmers plan their crops accordingly ultimately leading to better incomes for the cultivators.

The rational behind the survey exercise is to provide data for enabling support for various agricultural activities such as assessing total area under cultivation, damage from natural calamities and disease attacks and agro-met services across the country.
During the launch of the survey, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Sing Tomar was quoted as saying that the project aims ‘to create a single and verified source of truth about the crop sown data which is useful for accurate crop area estimation and development of various farmers centric solutions’.
