In line with the United Nations’ declaration of 2023 as the International Year of Millets, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced that a festival named ‘Shri Anna Mahotsav’ will be organised in the state capital Lucknow between October 27 to October 29.

The festival will involve discussions on the cultivation and promotion of millets on a large scale to reduce the dependence on the staple grains like wheat and rice.

In the Chatori Gali street in Lucknow which is a hub for street food, the event will also involve a cooking competition based on millets as the primary ingredient.

The winners will be honored by the Agriculture Department which is working on a mission to raise awareness about coarse grains among public.
