‘Nipun Samman’: Uttar Pradesh to award meritorious students from classes 1-3 on monthly basis

As per an official press statement issued by the state government on January 5, the 'Nipun Lakshya' mobile application will be used by the the principal of the District Institute for Education and Training [DIET] to assess the students.

In its stated objective to enhance the quality of education in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to organise a ceremony to honour meritorious students from classes 1-3 on a monthly basis. The award to honour the students is named as Nipun Samman [skilled award] and will be given on the basis of meeting the proficiency targets in Hindi and Mathematics.

As per an official press statement issued by the state government on January 5, the ‘Nipun Lakshya’ mobile application will be used by the the principal of the District Institute for Education and Training [DIET] to assess the students.

“Teachers will provide need-based support to the children, and assessment results will be shared with the school principal and teachers. The compiled monthly progress information will be sent to the Principal of DIET and the District Basic Education Officer. Each DIET trainee will also be paid an incentive of Rs 500 for every working day,” the press statement mentioned.

The District Institute for Education and Training principal will prepare a roster for the current session (January to March) in which schools will be allotted to Diploma in Elementary Education (DElEd) trainees, the government said in its statement.

It is also learnt that online training will be conducted for all Principals of DIET and trainees to ensure quality in the assessment process and to develop understanding and skills in assessment using Nipun Lakshya application.
