Teacher's Diary: 'When the magistrate told me at the train station that I had taught him once'
Sanjeev Sharma is a teacher at the Rajmargpur Primary School in the Atarrauli block of Aligarh district in Uttar Pradesh. He also trains teachers from other states as a state resource person. In this Teacher's Diary, he is sharing his experience of what he feels when his students grow up to become distinguished citizens.

I would like to share an experience with you today, which I may never forget for the rest of my life. I had to go to Lucknow for a workshop and was sitting at the Aligarh railway station. It was the night time when a young man in a classy attire approached me.
He touched my feet and said, "You are Sanjeev sir, right? You may not recognise me, but you taught me 15 years ago." I felt thrilled that even today, the children remember me and credit me for their success. I also asked him what was he doing now, and he told me that he has qualified for the Provincial Civil Services [PCS] and is now a magistrate in Jharkhand.

Believe me, at that moment, there were tears in my eyes. I felt blessed that my dream had come true. For any teacher, this is the most important moment in life. Remember, after parents, it is the teacher who wants the child to progress and touch new summits in life. You have entrusted your child with the teachers, and it is for the teacher to make your children's future bright. A teacher is the maker of every professional.
