Cartoon characters speaking in the voice of their teacher is what is making learning Mathematics and Hindi a fun-filled activity for the students of Faizullapur Primary School in Faizullapur village, Hardoi District.

Shivendra Singh Baghel is that primary school teacher who is using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to spice up his classes. The 31-year-old teacher thinks it is going to be a game changer for his students in classes one to five.

“Technology has always played an important role in education but the current use of it as Artificial intelligence will be beneficial,” he said. Baghel came to this school in July 2022. He did his schooling from Unnao, Uttar Pradesh and completed his post graduation from D.A.V. degree college, Kanpur.

The school has 44 students spread out in three classrooms with another teacher besides Baghel. The two of them share teaching duties in the primary school.

During the summer vacations in June, when Baghel was scrolling on his phone, he saw some videos on how AI could be used in teaching. Baghel decided to work on this new idea so that he could make learning interesting for his students.

Since early this month Baghel has been using videos made with AI as teaching aids. “I make two to three videos per day. I am currently working on the Hindi and Maths syllabus by including numbers, alphabets, names of fruits, colors and poems,” he explained.

The children love the idea of these cartoon characters speaking to them in the voice of their teacher, and classes have become more exciting since.

“I hope to enhance the learning experience of the students. Also, Artificial intelligence can be used in so many different ways to keep the students engaged. It has certainly created a positive learning environment for my students and improved the effectiveness of my instruction,” Baghel said
