प्राचीन शहर वाराणसी में गंगा के घाटों पर, डोम समुदाय शव के अंतिम संस्कार के लिए ज़रूरी होते हैं। फिर भी वे सामाजिक रूप से बहिष्कृत (अस्वीकार) हैं, उनकी शिक्षा तक पहुँच नहीं है और वे गरीबी का जीवन जीते हैं। बावज़ूद इसके उन्हें उम्मीद है उनके बच्चों के शिक्षित होने से हालात बदलेंगे।

बनारस का लंगड़ा आम इसबार मंडी में आते ही लंगड़ा रहा है। देश के सबसे बड़े उत्पादक राज्य उत्तर प्रदेश के वाराणसी में ‘लंगड़ा’ किस्म आम के उत्पादन में गिरावट दर्ज की गई है। किसानों के मुताबिक, इसका कारण अप्रैल और मई में होने वाली बेमौसम ओलावृष्टि और बारिश है।
