In 2020-21, over 64,879.26 metric tonnes of apples and 3,67,309.04 metric tonnes of potatoes were produced in Uttarakhand, a large chunk of it in Chamoli district. But, due to a lack of cold storage units, farmers are forced to sell their produce at a very low rate. Setting up cold storage facilities can cut down post harvest losses and increase farmers' income.

About 500 villagers in Uttarakhand’s Lohari village complain that the administration’s two-day notice to shift their belongings to a safer place before the Vyasi dam waters submerged their village, was woefully inadequate. Displaced villagers are demanding a better compensation package.

उत्तराखंड के लोहारी गाँव के लगभग 500 ग्रामीणों की शिकायत है कि व्यासी बांध के पानी में उनके गाँव को डूबने से पहले उनके सामान को सुरक्षित स्थान पर ले जाने के लिए प्रशासन का दो दिन का नोटिस पर्याप्त नहीं था। विस्थापित ग्रामीण बेहतर मुआवजा पैकेज की मांग कर रहे हैं।
