17 दिनों के संघर्षों के बाद आखिर 28 नवंबर को टनल में फँसे 41 मजदूरों को बाहर निकाल लिया गया, इस दौरान कुछ ऐसे भी लोग थे, जो इस बचाव अभियान के हीरो थे, उनमें से एक रैट होल माइनर्स का ग्रुप भी है।

उत्तराखंड के उत्तरकाशी में सुरंग के अँदर फँसे 41 मजदूरों में से एक नाम अखिलेश सिंह का भी हैं, जिनकी पत्नी गर्भवती हैं और हाल-फिलहाल में अपने पहले बच्चे को जन्म देने वाली हैं; उनके पति के पिछले 12 दिनों से सुरंग में फँसे होने के बारे में उन्हें किसी ने नहीं बताया है।
