Book lovers find warm and welcoming spots to read in the mountainside village of Bhilar, Maharashtra, where local inhabitants run free libraries out of their homes.

‘100 Tales of Teachers Transforming Education in Rural India’ is a one-of-its-kind collection of stories of teachers from across the country. This book, which is part of Gaon Connection’s Teacher Connection project, will take the readers into the world of educators and their students.

The book, Birds of Uttarakhand, has nearly 500 bird illustrations, their qualities vary from artists to artists but most are good enough to help in identification of the species. Sometimes bird call is transcribed in word as the locals hear it.

Primary teacher Shazia Bano of Bhandaro village in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh is ensuring that every child in her class is equipped with literacy and numeracy skills. And to do the same, she arms herself with colourful story books, maths kit, flash cards, and posters.

Abhishek Shukla is a teacher at Sahjapur Primary School in Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur. He has started a unique library in his school by bringing in volunteers who donate books. Abhishek is sharing his experiences in this teachers' diary.
