Joshimath in Uttarakhand has both religious and tourist significance. But several villages in the area are slowly subsiding, say the local villagers and scientists who have studied the region. Community action aided by some NGOs has led to the revival of wells in the Khagaria district which has resulted in a decrease in the disease burden in some of the villages. A ground report from the rural hinterland of Bihar.

It's been more than two years since children in Uttar Pradesh's anganwadis have been served hot cooked meals, though most other states have resumed them, post pandemic.
