Once the backbone of agriculture in the Bundelkhand region, the Kenkatha breed of cattle that was once prolific in the villages on the banks of the river Ken is dwindling at an alarming rate. The indigenous breed can survive harsh weather conditions which makes it climate-resilient.

Farmers from eight villages in the Shama cluster are associated with a growth centre that processes and sells kiwi products. The fruit is locally grown by the hill farmers. In 2021, nearly 20 quintals of kiwi were pulped for juice. The sale of these products has increased the income of farmers.

As of July 22, as many as 199 animals perished in the Kaziranga National Park, home to the world's largest population of one-horned rhinoceros. Experts feel the highlands in the park are not enough to house so many animals and the government should take measures to help these animals that suffer silently during floods, year after year, as the Park, situated on the banks of the Brahmaputra river, is prone to consistent floods
