केंद्र सरकार का दावा है कि गन्ना आधारित कृषि अर्थव्यवस्था को रफ्तार देने के लिए अतिरिक्त चीनी के निर्यात और चीनी से इथेनॉल बनाने बनाने की प्रक्रिया कारगर साबित हो रही है। इथेनॉल की बिक्री से वर्तमान सत्र में चीनी मिलों को लगभग 15,000 करोड़ रुपये का राजस्व मिल रहा है।

प्रदेश की कई चीनी मिलों में पेराई का कार्य शुरू हो गया है। इस बार कई जिलों में गन्ने का रकबा बढ़ा है, जिससे चीनी के बंपर उत्पाद की उम्मीद जताई जा रही है। चीनी मिलों में गन्ने की खरीद शुरू हो चुकी है।

यूपी सरकार के मुताबिक प्रदेश में गन्ना किसानों को भुगतान और बंद पड़ी मिलों को चालू करवाकर, उनकी क्षमता बढ़ाकर चीनी उद्योग को नई पहचान दी गई है। मौजूदा पेराई सत्र में 4,289 लाख टन से ज्यादा गन्ने की पेराई कर 475.69 लाख टन से अधिक चीनी का रिकॉर्ड उत्पादन भी हुआ है।
