Hundreds of anganwadi workers protested in Delhi for 38 days and called it off when the Delhi government invoked the law refraining protests for the workers occupied in essential services. Upon returning to their centres, about 500 workers found that they had been fired. The anganwadi workers have now moved Delhi High Court against the state government's termination of their services. In the recently concluded Monsoon Session of the Parliament, the Union government informed the Lower House that child marriages have more than doubled from 395 cases in 2017 to 1,050 cases in 2021. Karnataka has reported the most child marriages with 706 such cases while Uttar Pradesh has recorded 30 such cases in these five years.
