Kusum Lodhi has been elected unopposed as the sarpanch of Sirsauda gram panchayat in Madhya Pradesh. She dropped out of school in class eight when she got married. But she completed her studies and is now pursuing a B.Ed with her daughter. Lodhi is determined to put the 'pink panchayat' on the path to progress.

Gaon Connection's recent report on the sorry state of the Lutheran Middle School in Chaibasa where Jharkhand's hero Birsa Munda studied, has caught the attention of the West Singhbhum district administration. The Regional Education Officer visited the school and submitted his report including requirements of the school.

On Jharkhand day today, the tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda is remembered with pride. But the school he went to in Chaibasa is struggling to stay afloat. The classrooms where he studied are gone, and along with that has disappeared a significant chunk of historical heritage. Local administration promises to look into the matter.

Bundeli Rai is the traditional folk dance of Bundelkhand. Rai means mustard seed. The way mustard seed swings around in the saucer, the dancers also dance likewise on the beats of traditional musical instruments of Nagadiya, Dholak, Jheeka, and Ramtoola. This traditional folk dance was fading away when the Jhansi administration stepped in to revive the culture, also support the livelihood of dancers and singers.

With the support of district administration, tribal farmers in Koraput and Nuapada districts have taken up strawberry cultivation and are earning up to Rs 6 lakh profit per acre.
