आशा कार्यकर्ता अन्नपूर्णा सिंह खुद पोलियो से पीड़ित हैं। लेकिन उनकी यह शारीरिक परेशानी कभी उनके काम के आड़े नहीं आई। कानपुर में अपनी देखरेख में आने वाले सभी बच्चों को समय पर टीका लगाया जाए, इस जिम्मेदारी को वह पूरी शिद्दत के साथ निभाती हैं। वह बच्चों के माता-पिता को पोलियो के टीके के महत्व के बारे में बताती हैं और संस्थागत प्रसव में मदद भी करती हैं।

उत्तर प्रदेश में डेंगू, मलेरिया और अन्य वेक्टर बॉर्न बीमारियों के मामले तेजी से बढ़ रहे हैं। इसके चलते राज्य ने अपनी ग्रामीण आबादी में बुखार, टीबी और अन्य रोगों की जांच के लिए घर-घर जाकर सर्वे करने का काम शुरू किया है। कोविड टीकाकरण को लेकर भी जानकारी जुटाई जा रही है। हालांकि, आशा कार्यकर्ताओं ने इस अतिरिक्त काम के लिए उचित भुगतान नहीं किए जाने की शिकायत की है।
