पारंपरिक तौर पर दाई का काम करने वाली तजुर्बेकार महिलाएँ अभी भी घाटी के दूर-दराज के गाँवों में अपने इस काम को बखूबी कर रही हैं। उनमें से कई काफी बुज़ुर्ग और समझदार हैं। घर पर बच्चों को जन्म दिलाने का उनका सालों का अनुभव उन्हें इन इलाकों की लाइफ लाइन बनाए हुए है।
