Thanks to a jewellery-making training capsule organised in Rayagada, a tribal dominated district in Odisha, 150 Kondh and Saura tribe women make necklaces, cuff bracelets, earrings, rings, hairpins, waistbands and bangles out of bamboo and are earning up to Rs 25,000 a month.

उत्तर प्रदेश के एक छोटे से गांव में एक स्वयं सहायता समूह से जुड़ी 20 महिलाएं अपने घरों में रहकर काम करके पर्यावरण के अनुकूल बांस और खस से पुआल, टोकरी और चप्पल जैसे उत्पाद बना रही हैं और अपने परिवार में आय लाने का एक जरिया बन रही हैं।

उत्तर प्रदेश के मिर्जापुर में वन विभाग आदिवासी महिलाओं के दस्तकारी के हुनर को तराश रहा है। स्थानीय स्तर पर मौजूद बांस का उपयोग कर इन महिलाओं की आमदनी को बढ़ाने के प्रयास हो रहे हैं। इस काम में असम की एक डिजाइन कंसल्टेंट की मदद भी ली जा रही है। कुछ पुरुष भी इस फ्री ट्रेनिंग में शामिल हुए और अब वे बांस से ज्वेलरी, राखी, चटाई, शोपीस, फूलदान जैसी चीजें बना रहे हैं।
