Like our childhood, basant seems to belong to a bygone era. Now in just a couple of days the mercury jumps many degrees and the harsh Indian summer is upon us. From rajai and no-fan nights, we go straight into air conditioned rooms. And, more worryingly, the rising heat and disappearing spring is a direct threat to our granaries.

Two years after the nation-wide lockdown was imposed in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, migrant workers who returned to their homes in Jharkhand, have taken up farming and are growing a variety of crops, including lemon grass and exotic vegetables like broccoli, and reaping profits. Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society is training and supporting these farmers.

Despite qualifying for a cricket tournament in Delhi, Jyoti wasn't sure if she can travel and participate in the event due to lack of money. India Cares has extended help to the young cricketer.
