अनिल वर्मा बाराबंकी में धान और गेहूं की खेती करते थे, लेकिन बीस साल पहले ग्लेडियोलस फूलों की खेती करने लगे। उन्होंने न केवल भारी मुनाफा कमाया है, एक पक्का घर बनाया है, अपने बच्चों को शिक्षित किया है और एक कार खरीदी है, वर्मा ने उत्तर प्रदेश के बाराबंकी जिले में कई किसानों को ग्लेडियोलस की खेती करने के लिए प्रेरित किया है।

इस साल मई-जून के महीने में कई राज्यों में तापमान 50 डिग्री तक पहुँच गया, इसका असर इस समय उगाई जानी वाली फ़सलों पर भी पड़ा है, फूलों की खेती भी उनमें से एक है। किसानों के लिए इस बार लागत निकाल पाना भी मुश्किल लग रहा है।
