पोषण सुरक्षा के लिए कोई चमत्कारिक उपाय नहीं हैं। लेकिन कुछ लोग अनुभव के आधार पर एनीमिया और पोषण संबंधी समस्याओं से निपटने के लिए फोर्टिफिकेशन को एक चमत्कार के रूप में पेश करते रहे हैं। दरअसल यह एक क्लिनिकल दृष्टिकोण है। इसे बड़े पैमाने पर लागू नहीं किया जा सकता और न ही किया जाना चाहिए।

बच्चों और महिलाओं में कुपोषण और एनीमिया से निपटने के लिए सरकार 7 राज्यों में मिड-डे मील और आंगनबाड़ी में फोर्टिफाइड चावल दे रही है। फोर्टिफाइड चावल वो होते हैं जिनमें कृत्रिम रुप से पोषक तत्व मिलाए जाते हैं। 2024 तक पीडीएस के तहत हर लाभार्थी को यही चावल मिलेंगे।
