ग्रामीणों की शिकायत है कि गुजरात के कच्छ जिले में एक उष्णकटिबंधीय कांटेदार वन (ट्रॉपिकल थार्न फॉरेस्ट) के सैकड़ों पेड़ों को काटकर पवन चक्कियों के निर्माण की योजना बनायी जा रही है। पिछले दो महीनों से पवन ऊर्जा परियोजना के लिए उपकरणों के प्रवेश पर रोक को लेकर ग्रामीण सचेत हो गए हैं। 6 अगस्त को उन्होंने अपने जंगलों को बचाने के लिए विरोध प्रदर्शन शुरू कर दिया है।
