बिहार के बांका जिले में लगभग 1,000 एकड़ की 'बंजर भूमि' आज हरी भरी है, क्योंकि पथरीले इलाके में लेमनग्रास की खेती होने लगी है। जिला प्रशासन की मदद से 500 से अधिक किसानों ने अपनी बंजर भूमि को सुगंधित खेतों में बदल दिया है और लेमनग्रास तेल के निर्यात के लिए अपना खुद का एफपीओ भी बनाया है।

Two years after the nation-wide lockdown was imposed in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, migrant workers who returned to their homes in Jharkhand, have taken up farming and are growing a variety of crops, including lemon grass and exotic vegetables like broccoli, and reaping profits. Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society is training and supporting these farmers.

To help minimise the losses and boost farmers' incomes, agricultural scientists from CSIR-CIMAP and the farm science centre at Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh held a workshop on cultivation of medicinal and aromatic crops.
