The Anghar Mukt Abhiyan is an awareness campaign to sensitise the local villagers regarding forest fire. The programme, conducted in 113 buffer villages of the tiger reserve, has witnessed participation of close to 10,000 people. The incidence of forest fires in Melghat has come down from 379 in 2016 to 221 in 2021.

Good news from the adivasi-dominated Panna district where Aramganj gram panchayat has elected a woman sarpanch and 17 women panchs as representatives for the rural administration. These rural residents are trapped between the embankments of the river built for flood control. Villages like Tepra are washed away and for the past three years now, people are living on an embankment awaiting compensation and rehabilitation. Will the UP election results change their fate?
