यह काम ऐसा नहीं है कि लॉकडाउन खत्म होते ही दुकान खोल कर कमाई शुरू हो जाए। ऑर्डर आने, पेंटिंग बनने और पैसा मिलने तक डेढ़-दो महीने और लग जायेंगे। किसी का भी परिवार तीन-चार महीने ऐसे नहीं चल पायेगा।

बिहार की मधुबनी लोककला दुनिया भर में मशहूर हो गई हो लेकिन यह आज भी अपने चित्रकारों को बिचौलियों से बचाने में कामयाब नहीं हो पाई है। अफसोस की बात है कि सरकार से भी इन चित्रकारों को कोई समर्थन नहीं मिल पा रहा है।

The beautiful art of Tikuli, said to be 800 years old, would have passed into oblivion but for the dedication of artist Ashok Kumar Biswas who not only revived the art form but also made it a source of livelihood for more than 300 women he trained in the art.

दुलारी देवी को बिहार की मशहूर लोककला मिथिला पेंटिंग के क्षेत्र में योगदान के लिए पद्मश्री से सम्मानित किया गया। कर्पूरी देवी और महासुंदरी देवी के यहां बर्तन धोने व झाड़ू-पोंछा करने के दौरान ही उन्होंने पेंटिंग सीखना शुरु किया था। उनका जीवन और इस मुकाम तक पहुंचना किसी कहानी के जैसा ही है।
