प्रवासी मजदूरों पर जारी सियासत के बीच उत्तर प्रदेश के अलग-अलग नेशनल हाईवेज पर उनके पैदल चलकर घर पहुंचने का क्रम जारी है। हालांकि पिछले दो दिनों में पैदल चलने वाले इन मजदूरों की संख्या में थोड़ी कमी जरूर आई है।

Earlier, Gaon Connection had reported on the families of some of these workers who belonged to Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh and awaited the rescue of their breadwinners. Five months in a year, labourers from villages in Uttar Pradesh migrate to Kashmir where they work as daily wagers at brick kilns. Yesterday, one of them, Mukesh Kumar, was shot dead in Pulwama. Gaon Connection met his family.

Amongst the 41 workers who are trapped inside the tunnel in Uttarkashi is Akhilesh Singh, whose wife is pregnant with their first child. She is unaware of her husband being stuck for the past 12 days.

After 17 days trapped inside the collapsed tunnel in Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand, 41 workers should soon be home and safe. Gaon Connection met family members of a few of these workers, who anxiously wait for their return home to Jharkhand.

Exactly two years back, on March 25, 2020, the nationwide lockdown came into force. Millions of migrant workers from rural India were stranded in cities without a place to stay, and with no food nor other means. Hundreds of thousands of them walked back home. Two years on, Gaon Connection caught up with these migrant workers and found their wounds haven't healed and their scars run deep.

उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने लॉकडाउन से प्रभावित प्रवासी मजदूरों की आर्थिक मदद के लिए आज (13 जून) 10 लाख से ज्यादा मजदूरों के बैंक खातों में 1000-1000 रुपए ऑनलाइन ट्रांसफर किये।

गांव कनेक्शन के इस सर्वे में 10 में से 9 ग्रामीणों ने बताया कि बेरोजगारी उनके गांव या उनके क्षेत्र की बहुत बड़ी समस्या है। गौरतलब है कि लॉकडाउन लगने के बाद बड़ी संख्या में प्रवासी मजदूर शहरों से अपने गांवों की तरफ लौटे थे, जिनमें अधिकतर के पास अब कोई काम नहीं है।
