In response to questions raised in the Upper House, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change informed that 90,001.15 hectares of forest land has been diverted for non-forest use in the last five years. Almost 62% of compensatory afforestation funds remained unutilised.

On August 2, while responding to a question in the Upper House the Ministry of Home Affairs provided details on losses and damages incurred due to hydro meteorological disasters — cyclones, floods and thunderstorms — in the country as of July 26, 2023.

While answering a question pertaining to the availability of data on manual scavenging in the country, the Union government stated there is no report on the practice of manual scavenging in any district. It also mentioned that 530 districts have eradicated the practice of manual scavenging. In the recently concluded Monsoon Session of the Parliament, the Union government informed the Lower House that child marriages have more than doubled from 395 cases in 2017 to 1,050 cases in 2021. Karnataka has reported the most child marriages with 706 such cases while Uttar Pradesh has recorded 30 such cases in these five years.

On August 9, in the ongoing Monsoon Session, the Education Ministry mentioned that the percentage of government schools with internet connection was highest in the states of Kerala and Gujarat with 94.6% and 94.2% of coverage respectively.
