India reported 663 murders attributed to witch-hunts between 2015 and 2021. This comes to an average of 95 witch–hunt/witch-craft related deaths every year. Bihar was the first state to enact a law against this practice with a punishment of up to 6 months jail or Rs 2,000 fine! Still, women continue to be hunted down as witches. A ground report.

बारिश और बाढ़ में फसल बर्बाद होने से परेशान एक और किसान ने फांसी लगाकर आत्महत्या कर ली। किसान पर करीब पौने दो लाख का कर्ज़ था। NCRB ताजा रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक भारत में रोजाना 30 किसान और खेतिहर मजदूर आत्महत्या करते हैं।

Yesterday, two minor Dalit sisters were raped and killed. Their bodies were found hanging from a khair tree in a sugarcane field in their village in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh. A heinous crime that is distressingly frequent in rural India. Meanwhile, the conviction rate under POSCO Act is only about 40 per cent. And, a significant chunk of the Nirbhaya funds remain unutilised by the state governments.
