Biswanath Tudu’s work has helped promote the Ol Chiki script of the Santali language. In 2010 when Biswanath Tudu got the Akademi Award, there were less than 100 Ol Chiki litterateurs in Odisha who read and wrote this unique script, but now their number has increased to over 300.

Manmohan Singh works at a gurudwara in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and spends a large part of his earnings in educating under-privileged children. His one such ‘classroom’ is under an open sky, next to the railway track where three college students teach children of daily wage labourers. All the expenses are borne by Manmohan and his wife Rajvinder Kaur.

Displaced from their forest homes inside the Kanha National Park in Madhya Pradesh, tribal inhabitants struggled for years to find a place to call their own. A group of 32 Baiga tribe families now live in Chichrangpur village in the buffer zone where a non-profit is training them in farming and other means of livelihood.
