The renowned rath yatra in Odisha takes on special significance in Remanda village in Jharsuguda, where it starts three days after the Puri rath yatra, and is flagged off by a ceremony called chhera pahanra, which has traditionally been undertaken by only Muslims in this village. For the past two years, the Jagannath Yatra in Odisha had been a low-key affair as the general public was not allowed to participate in the grand event in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. After two years of the pandemic, the annual Rath Yatra in Puri, Odisha, which commences from July 1, is set to be open to public. At least 15 lakh devotees expected. Carpenters and painters working through the night to complete the chariots.

In the upcoming Jagannath Yatra festivities slated for the first week of July, preparations are underway for the grand event in Odisha's Kendujhar district. The tribal communities who live on the margins of the society in the coastal state are also contributing to the Rath Yatra by supplying the ropes needed for dragging the chariots to the temple. ओडिशा की जानी-मानी रथयात्रा झारसुगुड़ा के रेमांडा गाँव में काफी मायने रखती है। यह पुरी रथयात्रा के तीन दिन बाद शुरू होती है जिसे एक ख़ास रस्म के बाद निकाला जाता है। बड़ी बात ये है कि यात्रा की पारंपरिक रूप से पूरी ज़िम्मेदारी गाँव के मुस्लिम समुदाय की होती है। यह उत्सव इस साल 23 जून को मनाया गया था।

Following the intricate codes of kaleen taleem hanging from their looms, 50 artisans across Budgam district in central Kashmir hand weave silk carpets, 8 feet wide and 11 feet long, which will hang on the walls of the spanking new Parliament building in New Delhi. Kashmiri carpets worth Rs 300 crores are annually exported from India.
