गाँव में आज भी चिकित्सा व्यवस्था संतोषजनक नहीं है। 70% आबादी गाँवों में रहती है, लेकिन डॉक्टरों का सिर्फ़ 26% हिस्सा वहां उपलब्ध है। अस्पतालों की कमी, दवाइयों का अभाव, झोलाछाप डॉक्टरों का बोलबाला और तेजी से बढ़ती शहरी बीमारियां, ग्रामीण स्वास्थ्य को बड़ी चुनौती के रूप में खड़ी कर रही हैं।

सीतापुर जिले की मिश्रिख तहसील में दो केंद्रीकृत बायोमेडिकल वेस्ट ट्रीटमेंट सुविधाएं मौजूद हैं। इसके बावजूद सामुदायिक स्वास्थ्य केंद्र के पास सीरिंज, बेकार दवाएं, खून से सनी पट्टियां, और प्लेसेंटा (गर्भनाल) को खुले मैदान में फेंका और जला दिया जाता है। स्थानीय लोग और सफाई कर्मचारी इसकी दुर्गंध और जहरीले धुएं से बुरी तरह प्रभावित हैं।
