The exotic fruit is sold almost thrice the price of the locally grown guava and is promising a better livelihood for the rural women.

पारंपरिक सब्जियों का सही दाम न मिलने से परेशान उत्तर प्रदेश के उन्नाव में महिलाओं के एक स्वयं सहायता समूह ने थाई अमरूद की खेती शुरू की है। विदेशी फल स्थानीय रूप से उगाए जाने वाले अमरूद की कीमत से लगभग तीन गुना अधिक दाम में बेचा जाता है और ग्रामीण महिलाओं को बेहतर कमाई का मौका मिल गया है।

Efforts by a women-led group have helped revive the traditional millet varieties of Kodo and Kutki in Madhya Pradesh. Today, as many as 18,000 rural women in the Dindori district are earning better incomes by cultivating these millets and processing them into marketable products like cookies, breakfast cereals, biscuits, snacks, and sweets.
