भारत के गाँवों में जलकुंभी वर्षों से एक ऐसी समस्या रही है जिसने तालाबों, मछलियों, जलजीवों और ग्रामीण अर्थव्यवस्था का दम घोंट दिया है। तालाब जो कभी जीवन का स्रोत थे, आज हरी चादरों के नीचे सिसकते दिखते हैं। पर इसी अंधेरे के बीच एक नई रोशनी उभरी ICRISAT का सौर ऊर्जा से चलने वाला वाटर हाइऐसिंथ हार्वेस्टर। एक ऐसी मशीन जो न केवल जलकुंभी हटाती है, बल्कि उसे ग्रामीण आजीविका, पर्यावरण संरक्षण और महिलाओं के आर्थिक सशक्तीकरण के अवसर में बदल देती है।
