शादी की उम्र को लेकर छिड़ी मौजूदा बहस में लिंग, जाति, वर्ग और धर्म पर बात नहीं हो रही है जबकि इन्हीं के कारण कम उम्र में शादियां होती हैं। इसकी बजाय लड़की और लड़के की शादी के बीच तीन साल के अंतर को असमानता बताया जा रहा है जिसे खत्म करने की जरूरत है।

Recently, a 16-year-old girl from Dumka, was set on fire by her stalker and killed. A couple of days later, a minor girl who was four months pregnant was found dead and hanging from a tree in Dumka. The Jharkhand Police had launched a mobile application Shakti to help women in distress, but the app is not functioning and few even know of its existence.

Saguni Devi Bairva is an adivasi farmer from Ajmer, Rajasthan, and she so inspired another young adivasi, Arti Singh from Chhattisgarh, that latter made a documentary on her called ‘Kisan Hoon, Nidar Hoon’, which was recently screened at the Green Hub Central India (GHCI) festival in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
