Meanwhile, wildfires are raging in Oregon (USA), and Europe is battling the worst drought in 500 years.

As per the findings of a recent study, water bodies in and around the drought-prone Marathwada region of Maharashtra are fast diminishing which is causing a dip in the groundwater levels. The experts mention that the situation poses serious challenges for the agrarian communities susceptible to catastrophic effects of droughts on various crops such as sorghum, pearl millet, sugarcane, and others.
