पश्चिम बंगाल के आसनसोल में पिछले चार साल से 'एड्स नियंत्रण कार्यक्रम के तहत मरीज़ों के व्यक्तिगत आधार पर इलाज' योजना को रोका हुआ है। इसके चलते यौनकर्मियों की न तो एचआईवी की अनिवार्य जांच हो पो रही है और न ही उन्हें बचाव के लिए मुफ्त कंडोम दिए जा रहे है। इससे एड्स के खिलाफ भारत की लड़ाई कमजोर पड़ती दिखाई पड़ रही है।
