Students’ organisations in Uttar Pradesh’s Allahabad University have been up in arms ever since the institute’s administration announced a hike in fees last month. With the administration not compromising its stance on the rationale behind the fees hike, the protests against the decision are escalating with every passing day. Leaders from the opposition parties in the state have also expressed their support for the students. Here’s all that has happened in the story so far.

नेशनल रजिस्टर ऑफ सिटिजन (एनआरसी) और सिटिजनशिप एमेंडमेंट एक्ट (सीएए), 2019 के बाद अब विवादित पर्यावरण प्रभाव आकलन अधिसूचना (ईआईए), 2020 के खिलाफ़ पूर्वोत्तर राज्यों खासकर असम में आंदोलन आकार लेता दिख रहा है।

अन्य राज्यों के सरकारी मेडिकल कॉलेजों में अधिकतम फीस एक लाख 20 हजार रुपये तक है। कोई भी छात्र लगभग पांच लाख रुपये में अपना एमबीबीएस कोर्स पूरा कर सकता है, लेकिन उत्तराखंड के मेडिकल छात्र को सिर्फ एक साल में ही इतना फीस भरना पड़ रहा है।
