With the advent of modern farming techniques, advanced equipment and heavy machinery is making inroads in rural India. However, a renowned farmer in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna is doing everything in his capacity to maintain and thrive his museum of obsolete farm tools which are now hard to find in the country's rural hinterland. The museum is a sanctuary to 250 such tools made of metal, wood, bamboo, stone and leather. Details here.

A joint study by Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability and Azim Premji University shows that a total of 895 questions related to climate change were asked in Parliament in a period of 20 years, which is less than even one per cent of the total queries asked in the House. The low representation of such questions is that climate change does not influence voting behaviour, mentioned the study.

As per the findings of a recent study, water bodies in and around the drought-prone Marathwada region of Maharashtra are fast diminishing which is causing a dip in the groundwater levels. The experts mention that the situation poses serious challenges for the agrarian communities susceptible to catastrophic effects of droughts on various crops such as sorghum, pearl millet, sugarcane, and others.
