एक मार्गदर्शक, एक टीचर के तौर पर वह सैकड़ों हज़ारों ग्रामीण बच्चों के दिलों और यादों में हमेशा बनी रहेंगी। वह पिछले 51 सालों से ‘भारतीय ग्रामीण विद्यालय’ में बिना किसी स्वार्थ के शिक्षा देने का काम करती रहीं। उन्होंने अनगिनत ज़िंदगियों को छुआ और बदल दिया।

The hardships that he faced in accessing education in his childhood were so deeply etched in his psyche that Dr Shiv Balak Misra, a noted geologist, gave up his comfortable job in Canada and returned to his village in Uttar Pradesh to set up a school that has been providing education to rural children for the past 50 years.

लखनऊ से लगभग 40 किलोमीटर दूर कुनौरा के 'भारतीय ग्रामीण स्कूल' में एक स्किल सेंटर चलाया जा रहा है। यहां गांव के बच्चों को पारंपरिक शिक्षा पद्धति से हटकर, नई तकनीक से जुड़े ग्राफिक डिजाइनिंग जैसे कोर्सेज कराए जाते हैं। इस पहल को ग्रामीण बच्चों को रोजगार के नए अवसरों की ओर ले जाने में मदद करने के उद्देश्य से शुरु किया गया है। कोविड महामारी ने दुनियाभर के स्कूलों को वर्चुअल लर्निंग के लिए मजबूर कर दिया है। लेकिन यह स्कूल उससे काफी पहले से ऑनलाइन क्लासेस चला रहा है।

यह कहानी सपनों, उम्मीद, धैर्य, त्याग और जीत की है। बचपन में शिक्षा पाने का लिए उन्होंने जिन मुश्किलों का सामना किया था, वह आज भी उसे भूले नहीं थे। उस संघर्ष की एक-एक छाप उनके मानस पर अंकित थी। बस इसी एहसास के साथ प्रसिद्ध भूविज्ञानी डॉ शिव बालक मिसरा कनाडा से अपनी आरामदायक नौकरी छोड़कर उत्तर प्रदेश में अपने गाँव लौट आए। यहां आकर उन्होंने एक स्कूल स्थापित किया ताकि किसी और बच्चे को उस संघर्ष का सामना न करना पड़े। पिछले 50 सालों से उन्होंने ग्रामीण बच्चों की शिक्षा का जिम्मा उठाया हुआ है।
