पूरे देश में 1 से 7 अगस्त तक विश्व स्तनपान सप्ताह मनाया जा रहा, पिछले कुछ साल में संस्थागत प्रसव बढ़े, लेकिन स्तनपान की दर में बढ़ोतरी नहीं हुई। इसमें सबसे बड़ी चुनौती सामाजिक मान्यताएँ, मिथक, परंपराएँ, रुढ़ियाँ और अशिक्षा हैं।
