जयपुर में मकर संक्रांति पर पतंग उड़ाने की पुरानी परंपरा है। कहा जाता है कि महाराजा सवाई राम सिंह को पतंगबाजी की परंपरा बहुत पसंद थी और वे इसे जयपुर लेकर आए थे। कपड़े से बनी विशेष पतंगें जिन्हें 'तुक्कल' कहा जाता था, राजघरानों के लिए बनाई जाती थीं जो उन्हें महल की छत से उड़ाते थे। पतंगबाजी बाद में सक्रांत पर एक सामुदायिक कार्यक्रम बन गई।
