At least 32 villages fall within the boundaries of the sanctuary and want to be excluded from it. They have warned of a massive protest from April 15. But, why do they want the denotification? As the population of the Ganges river dolphins declined alarmingly, a 60-kilometre stretch along the river in Bihar's Bhagalpur district was notified as Vikramshila Gangetic Dolphin Sanctuary in 1991. But, three decades later, the endangered species continues to face the threat of extinction and in the last six months three dolphins were found dead in the sanctuary.

पश्चिमी राजस्थान में इस बार प्रवासी पक्षी समय से पहले आने लगे हैं। जो रेगिस्थान की इस जमीन के लिए अच्छा संकेत है लेकिन समस्या है, यहां बिछे हाईटेंशन लाइनों से बहुत सारे पक्षी घायल हो रहे हैं उनकी मौत हो रही है। पिछले 20 दिनों में यहां 18 कुरजां प्रवासी पक्षियों की मौत से पर्यावरण प्रेमी चिंतित हैं।

गांवों-मंदिरों के आसपास की वो जमीन जिसे खेती से मुक्त कर दिया गया था, उसे ओरण नाम दिया गया। ये ओरण जैव विविधता की खान हैं। लेकिन राजस्थान में सोलर कंपनियों और पवन चक्कियों के बढ़ते दवाब में ये प्राकृतिक वन कम हो रहे हैं। स्थानीय लोग इन्हें बचाने के लिए ओरण यात्राएं निकाल रहे हैं।
