देसी नस्ल की गाय-भैंस, मुर्गी-बतख, भेड़-बकरी जैसे पशुओं के संरक्षण के लिए आईसीएआर- राष्ट्रीय पशु आनुवांशिक संस्थान ब्यूरो ने नस्ल संरक्षण पुरस्कार-2021 के लिए आवेदन मांगे हैं।

देश में क्रॉसब्रीड गायों के पालन के लम्बे अनुभव के बाद इन गायों में कई समस्याएं पैदा हो रही हैं। संकर गाएं रोगों और बीमारियों के प्रति अत्यधिक संवेदनशील हैं। क्रॉस ब्रीड गायों में थनैला बीमारी की गंभीर समस्या देखी जा रही है। इन नस्लों में बांझपन, बार-बार गर्मी पर आना और गर्भ नहीं ठहरने का प्रतिशत बहुत अधिक है। इसके चलते इन गायों के इलाज पर पशुपालकों को एक मोटी रकम खर्च करनी पड़ती है। इनका पालन करना महंगा सौदा तो साबित हो ही रहा है साथ ही इन रोगों के इलाज के बाद भी सफलता की कोई गांरटी नहीं हैं।
