After wreaking havoc in the Kutch-Saurashtra region of Gujarat, Biparjoy, which is now a ‘deep depression’, moves towards Rajasthan. With several areas of Jalore and Barmer districts witnessing heavy rain today, IMD has put a red alert in these two districts.

Cyclone Biparjoy, which has been hovering in the Arabian Sea for the last 9 days, is about to make landfall in the coastal state of Gujarat. As per the Met Department, civil infrastructure is expected to witness major damage in the affected districts. The cyclone is expected to hit districts such as Porbandar, Rajkot, Morbi and Junagarh with a wind speed of 140 kilometres per hour.

India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the ‘extremely severe' cyclonic storm Biparjoy which is presently approaching the Gujarat coast. The storm is likely to make landfall between Pakistan’s commercial hub of Karachi and the Gujarat coast on June15.
