Two years after the nation-wide lockdown was imposed in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, migrant workers who returned to their homes in Jharkhand, have taken up farming and are growing a variety of crops, including lemon grass and exotic vegetables like broccoli, and reaping profits. Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society is training and supporting these farmers.

The Bihar government has officially declared 11 districts as drought-hit. Meanwhile, several other districts have been hit by the floods this month in October. The Bill seeks to modify the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 which restricts the diversion of forested lands for non-forest purposes including clearing of any forest land or its portion for mining, agriculture or infrastructural projects. It is passed it Lok Sabha but is yet to be debated and passed in the Upper House and achieve President's assent before it becomes an Act or the law.
