पश्चिम बंगाल के बांकुरा जिले में सैकड़ों आदिवासी महिलाएँ घने जंगलों से साल के पत्ते और जलाऊ लकड़ी इकट्ठा करने के लिए ख़तरनाक रास्तों से होकर गुजरती हैं। उन्हें जंगली जानवरों का सामना भी करना पड़ता है।

झारखंड के सिमडेगा जिले में कम से कम 4,000 किसान दीदी और आदिवासी महिलाएं वनोपज के माध्यम से आजीविका कमा रही हैं। महिला किसान सशक्तिकरण परियोजना (एमकेएसपी) किसानों को स्थानीय बिचौलियों के चंगुल से भी बचा रही हैं।

उत्तर प्रदेश के मिर्जापुर में वन विभाग आदिवासी महिलाओं के दस्तकारी के हुनर को तराश रहा है। स्थानीय स्तर पर मौजूद बांस का उपयोग कर इन महिलाओं की आमदनी को बढ़ाने के प्रयास हो रहे हैं। इस काम में असम की एक डिजाइन कंसल्टेंट की मदद भी ली जा रही है। कुछ पुरुष भी इस फ्री ट्रेनिंग में शामिल हुए और अब वे बांस से ज्वेलरी, राखी, चटाई, शोपीस, फूलदान जैसी चीजें बना रहे हैं।

On July 16 and 17, at the Green Hub Central India Mahotsav held in Bhopal, documentaries made by adivasi youth from Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Jharkhand were screened. The programme marked the successful culmination of a 10-month residential training to 17 young tribals who were taught the nuts and bolts of documentary-making and encouraged to make films around their lives.
