PM Modi urges farmers to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides. It's high time farmers go back to the drawing board to achieve this

In his Independence Day speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, from the ramparts of the Red Fort, said the mother earth was being destroyed due to excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Farmers will have to make some drastic changes in the way they have been functioning. Discarding modern practices and adopting old methodologies in farming won't help in undoing the damage that's already being done. We will have to make ancient methods favorable to the modern era

India has the highest market share for Ayurvedic products, accounting for roughly 80 per cent of the global sales. Heavy metal toxicity and lead poisoning can result from the frequent use of Ayurvedic medications. There is a need for standardisation and quality control to curb the use of lead and other heavy metals in Ayurvedic preparations.

As we rush headlong into the world of artificial intelligence, never have we felt a greater need to go back to basics and revive the ancient wisdom that has stood the test of time. The Bhovi community of traditional well diggers has many lessons to offer, as I learnt one afternoon.
