Thugs of Hindostan: A double-crossing Thug, who wins over the audience

Adventure Story: Drama, comedy, action--Thugs of Hindostan has it all. The story set in the era of British Raj, is a happy mix of adventure mixed with a light touch of patriotism. Vijay Krishna Acharya weaves an intricate tale of loyalty and deceit with the charming rogue Firangi, the fiercely loyal warrior Khudabaksh, the brave yet vulnerable Zafira and of course, the bewitching Suraiyya.

Costume Drama: Clothes maketh the man and in this instance, one look at Firangi (Aamir Khan), Khudabaksh (Amitabh Bachchan) or Zafira (Fatima Sana Sheikh) and you know exactly what they are about. Costume designers Manoshi Nath and Rushi Sharma take on the challenge of creating a period drama and deliver on the promise with great flair. That fashion designer Manish Malhotra adds a touch of the sensual touch to Katrina Kaif's Suraiyya, only helps.

Dramatic Flair: An action adventure film deserves a cast that is nimble on its feet and in its movement. All members of the principal cast, be it Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Fatima Sana Sheikh or Katrina Kaif make the cut on that front. As characters, understandably, it is Khan-- with the author-backed role of Firangi with its comic touch-- who aces it. Amitabh Bachchan, Fatima Sana Sheikh, Katrina Kaif and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub step in as a great support cast.

Action Packed: Thugs of Hindostan boasts of some spectacular action scenes courtesy action directors Parvez Shaikh and Franz Spilhaus who have executed the difficult scenes very well. The duel between Khudabaksh and Firangi as they dangle precariously from the ceiling of King of Durgapur's palace or Zafira's daredevil somersault in an attempt to kill her nemesis Clive is impressive.

Director's Cut: Director Vijay Krishna Acharya follows up a very successful Dhoom 3 with an even more challenging film namelyThugs of Hindostan. The film is a spectacle making it a perfect offering for the festive weekend. If it rakes in the moolah at the box-office as predicted, one can safely look forward to an even more adventure packed sequel.
