यह अध्ययन भारतीय विज्ञान संस्थान (आईआईएससी), बेंगलुरु के शोधकर्ताओं ने किया है। उनका कहना है कि यह खोज एचआईवी के खिलाफ अधिक व्यापक एंटीरेट्रोवायरल थेरेपी विकसित करने में मदद कर सकती है।

पश्चिम बंगाल के आसनसोल में पिछले चार साल से 'एड्स नियंत्रण कार्यक्रम के तहत मरीज़ों के व्यक्तिगत आधार पर इलाज' योजना को रोका हुआ है। इसके चलते यौनकर्मियों की न तो एचआईवी की अनिवार्य जांच हो पो रही है और न ही उन्हें बचाव के लिए मुफ्त कंडोम दिए जा रहे है। इससे एड्स के खिलाफ भारत की लड़ाई कमजोर पड़ती दिखाई पड़ रही है।
