कोविड-19 महामारी की दूसरी लहर की वजह से बड़ी संख्या में गरीब श्रमिकों और दिहाड़ी मजदूरों ने अपनी आजीविका खो दी। राइट टू फूड अभियान ने ओडिशा सरकार से परिवारों के लिए भोजन और आय सुरक्षा व पीडीएस में दालों को शामिल करने की मांग की है।

पिछले साल कोविड-19 की दूसरी लहर के बाद समाज में हाशिए पर खड़े वर्गों को खाद्य असुरक्षा का सामना करना पड़ा है, क्योंकि इनकी आय के स्रोत पर बड़ा प्रभाव पड़ा है। एक सर्वे के अनुसार देश में मुफ्त राशन के बावजूद एक बड़े तबके को ढ़ंग का खाना नहीं मिल पाया।
