राजस्थान में 31 मई से आखिरकार किसानों के बीच कर्जमाफी प्रक्रिया शुरू कर दी जाएगी। लेकिन कर्ज़माफी में शामिल नियम और शर्तों को लेकर किसान नाखुश हैं।

A survey in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana found that a large chunk of farmers were not aware of crop insurance. Only 16 per cent were repaying their loans as they felt they would get a loan waiver from the government.

A joint study by NABARD and Bharat Krishak Samaj has found that four in ten distressed surveyed farmers did not receive any farm loan waiver benefits in Punjab, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh, which together comprise 27 per cent of the total Indian agricultural landholdings. The study also found that borrowings of an average Punjab farmer were far greater than their counterparts in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.

प्रदर्शनकारी किसानों ने जोर देकर कहा कि राजनीतिक नेता कई सालों से उनके कर्ज माफ करने का आश्वासन देते आ रहे हैं। जब तक आधिकारिक तौर पर कर्ज माफ नहीं किया जाता है, वे अपना आंदोलन खत्म नहीं करेंगे। किसान मजदूर संघर्ष समिति के नेताओं की नजर में सीएम चरणजीत सिंह चन्नी की घोषणा महज एक राजनीतिक नौटंकी है।
